Translational Research Hackathon: Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases
Connecting Clinical Challenges with Scientific Opportunities
A three-hour collaborative event bringing together clinicians and researchers in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases to develop new translational research projects.
Translational research often begins with a clinical question that remains unanswered or a scientific discovery that has yet to find its clinical application. Too often, the researchers working on these challenges do not have the opportunity to connect.
We invite clinicians and researchers working in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases to a three-hour collaborative workshop. The goal is to leave with the foundation for a joint research project, rather than simply making new connections.
How It Works
1. Before the Event – Submit Your Entry Card
Participants are invited to submit one of two types of proposals:
-
Clinical Challenge: A clinical question, observation, or unmet need that could benefit from basic or translational research.
-
Scientific Opportunity: A discovery, mechanism, model, technology, dataset, or research capability that could contribute to understanding a disease or developing a clinical application.
2. Matching Researchers
All submitted proposals will be shared on a common platform. Based on participants' selections, teams of 2–4 members will be formed, bringing together complementary clinical and research expertise.
3. During the Hackathon
Each team will work together to define a research question, formulate a hypothesis, identify a feasible first experiment, and agree on a clear next step.
Teams will present their proposed projects in a three-minute pitch.
Beyond the Hackathon
The event marks the beginning of a long-term initiative designed to support the development of collaborative research projects, from initial concepts to preliminary data, grant applications, and scientific publications.
